Leytonstone Allotment Holders Co-Operative Association is a voluntary organisation run by members. The site at Roding Farm is leased by the Association from London Borough of Waltham Forest.
As an entirely independent not for profit organisation the Association is able to mange the site for the benefit of all members and prides itself on community spirit and inclusiveness. All key decisions are made at the Annual General Meeting of all members held in the following January. The site is managed by an elected committee.
In September 2024 a Special General Meeting decided that the Association should incorporate and become a co-operative. In November 2024 the Association was granted FCA registration to be know as Leytonstone Allotment Holders Co-Operative Association Ltd.
The Association holds regular social events and participates in external events both in Waltham Forest and in Redbridge, including the Wanstead Festival. The highlight of the year is the Annual Summer Show with competitions for all growers,
The allotment rents are considerably lower than many other local sites as most maintenance work is carried out by members. All members are asked to contribute to a maintenance working party during the year.
The site has a large car park, toilet facilities and a water tank network designed to allow easy access to water for all plots. Horse manure and woodchip are regularly provided free to plot holders.
The site rules allow members to have sheds and greenhouses on their plots and to plant fruit trees and bushes if they wish.
